Note: Apollo's attendants in the palace can be identified as the Seasons: Summer (holding ripened grains), Spring (bedecked with flowers), Winter (warmly dressed) and Autumn (eating grapes). The present gouache was acquired together with another one of the same series (F-2022-23). The gouaches are similar to Van Orley’s 1702 Offering to Apollo at the Palazzo Pitti in Florence (Galleria Palatina, inv. 867).
