Samenvatting (annotatie): This book is entirely devoted to the history of one sculpture: two cannonballs that collided against each other, fired with homemade twelve-pounders. The artist Joost Pauwaert is interviewed by the author Hans Theys about the five years of research that preceded the successful shot. They talk about barrels made of turned steel or cast iron, fuzes, bronze alloys, different types of gunpowder and so on. Theys also explains how we can view this work from the history of sculpture.; Dit boek is volledig gewijd aan de ontstaansgeschiedenis van één sculptuur: twee tegen elkaar gebotste kanonskogels, afgeschoten met zelfgemaakte twaalfponders. De kunstenaar Joost Pauwaert wordt geïnterviewd door de auteur Hans Theys over de vijf jaar onderzoek die voorafgingen aan het gelukte schot. Ze spreken over lopen van gedraaid staal of gietijzer, ontstekingsmechanismen, bronslegeringen, verschillende soorten buskruit enzovoort. Theys licht ook toe hoe we dit werk kunnen bekijken vanuit de geschiedenis van de beeldhouwkunst.
