Samenvatting (annotatie): World War, 1914-1918--Campaigns--Africa: South-west African campaign.--East African campaign. The campaign which added the South-West African Protectorate to the British Empire was a model of what such a campaign should be. Masterly strategy, planned by a master of war, in combination with the supremest self-sacrifice on the part of the troops engaged, enlarged the Empire's possessions by more than a quarter of a million square miles of territory at a cost, in life, of only 140, including deaths from all causes - battle casualties and disease. The author was a Lt. Commander, RN Armoured Car Division.
