Samenvatting
(annotatie)
The western range edge of the distribution of the moor frog is situated in northern France and Belgium. We sampled the four remaining French populations, and selected three reference populations in Belgium, two of which are currently fragmented and declining but which used to be part of a large metapopulation until a few decades ago. The third is a relatively large and stable population. We estimated the current and past demographic situation on the basis of genetic variation, the genetic diversity and the effective size of each population, and interpreted this in the light of recently developed genetic criteria to assess the local conservation status of populations.
