Inscripties
Inscription at the back of the binding: "Jan Gerritsz schipper op Ench= / uijsen ende Stijntien Dircks / sijn huijsvrouwe, woonende binnen Alckmaer / desen 3 Inuij Anno / 1642"
An inscription at the back of the binding reveals that in 1642, the book belonged to the Alkmaar skipper Jan Gerritsz (ca. 1610/1615-1672) and his wife Stijntien Dircks (ca. 1610/1615-before 1652), the daughter of a bricklayer (Van Heesch 2024, pp. 107-108).
The concluding caption in the picture bible refers Pieter Bruegel's engraving Triumph of Time, which is lost today but can still be identified through Schabaelje’s description (Van Heesch 2024, pp. 114-115).
The individual series and prints have been catalogued separately (inv. S.V 89142 up to and including S.V 89171).
